Democracy In Action (and not Democracy inaction..)

04 Nov

Jeanette, Evan and I went in to vote at 7:00 this morning and were greeted by a crowd that trailed over 2 floors and nearly to the front door of Burnsville City hall. I’ve never seen a line that long before, and due to the extreme efficiency of the election judges and volunteers, we were able to vote and head out in around 40 minutes. Every now and again I hear from people that we’re somehow deficient in common sense to live in a state where it’s colder outside than in your refrigerator for a good half of the year; the knowledge that a predicted 80% of eligible voters in the state will participate this election (the highest in the country!) helps to keep me a bit warmer in the month’s to come.

I also wanted to thank Paul and Rocco for putting up a series of spirited conversations about the nature of policies and politics on both sides of the fence. And to the media, who if not for the wonder of TiVo I would have given up on entirely over the past few months. On that note, I look forward to answering my home phone again and hearing friends and family more often than the Robocallilator9000.

P.S. I should note, Evan didn’t actually vote today, he just came along as an unbasied observer soaking in the machinations of electoral democracy. No voter fraud to see here, move along..

Speaking of Paul and others… I’m missing the links you used to have to your friend’s websites. Are they on a different page, or do you not endorse their websites anymore?

Thanks for the heads-up on that Robyn, after I re-did the site I forgot to reenable my links. They’re back up and clickable!
