Cooking Club – Fire!

07 Oct

Not to be yelled in a crowded room, but Cooking Club fire was a flaming blast! Another great idea ushered in by the master of mayhem himself, Paul. Here we can see the man attempting to lightly char Amelie.

Every food had to be prepared with flame in some way, and amazingly enough, everyone made it out with their eyebrows intact. We were lucky enough to sample several excellent recipes, including:

The gallery is up and running on Picasa, where you can see pictures of all the excellent food and flaming shenanigans, like this! And I’m working on a redesign of how recipes are going to be handled here, but I’ll be posting them as they become available.

Many thanks to the Brazeltons for allowing us to invade their beautiful home and trusting us with the integrity of their new ceilings. Here’s hoping those scorch marks aren’t permanent.

Cooking Club – Two Ways

11 Jun

This Sunday saw the return of Cooking Club to the Morrison homestead with Jeanette’s take on a Top Chef challenge, “Two Ways”. Each family was assigned a ”course” consisting of two different takes on a main ingredient of their choosing.

Cooking Club

Paul and Desiree went with Asparagus for an ingredient and brought a delicious Asparagus Sesame Salad. Jeanette and I went with Scallops and came up with Scallop Cakes with Cilantro-Lime Mayonnaise and Pan Seared Scallops with Garlic Ginger Cream Sauce; Jessica and Jason choose Strawberries and wowed us with an excellent Marscopone and Berry Bruschetta with an accompanying Summer Strawberry Sauce/Smoothie and finally Greg quenched our thirst with Tea done two ways, Half and Half and Turkish Tea.

If you’re looking for the recipes, the recipe section is where you need to go! As always, some drool worthy pictures are available in our gallery.

Cooking Club – Costa Rica

27 Feb

Who knew that Costa Rican food was the perfect way to enjoy a Friday night in a Minnesota winter? Desiree Brazelton, that’s who! Thanks for having all of us over to invade your home and eat a very tasty meal.

See what I mean? If you feel the need (read: if you’re currently drooling..) to recreate this dish, the recipe section is where you need to go! More pics of the food are available in the (soon to be modified) gallery.
